Hair extensions - bonds

The Procedure

• Firstly you need to download, print and complete this questionnaire. This will give a strong indication of whether hair extensions are compatible with your hair and your lifestyle. Return it to us and we will contact you to arrange a further consultation
• Salon consultation. This takes approximately half an hour and covers aftercare, suitability, extensions placement and any queries you may have. A final price for the service will also be given
• Colour match. If you have your hair coloured, this takes place after your colour service. The extensions appointment can then be booked on payment of a £150.00 non-refundable deposit
• Application. The hair is cleansed to remove any trace of conditioner, products and natural oils to provide the best surface for the bonding material. The extensions are applied (total application time for a full head is usually 3 - 5 hours) and cut into style.
• Rotation visits. We need to see you approximately once every four to six weeks. As the extensions become older, the bonds become visible and the style will start to look tired. With rotation, we remove some of the extensions and reapply closer to the root using the same hair. Occasionally top-up hair maybe required which will incur an additional charge - your stylist will advise you.
• Removal. Some clients prefer continual rotation, and therefore never have full removal. Others prefer occasional removal then new extensions with new hair. Removal and reapplication on the same day is possible.

Aftercare

Brushing

Always use the Racoon brush. It is specifically designed for use on hair extensions. It will glide easily through the hair, without snagging the bonds. This brush is supplied as part of our full-head package.

• Start at the ends and work your way upwards, holding each section just above where you're brushing. When you get close to the roots, use your hand to support bonds
• Never brush the hair when it is wet and never use a fine tooth comb
• When the hair is wet, use a wide tooth comb to remove any tangles, working from ends up to the roots

The First Wash

The first wash is included in the price of your extensions. This way you will learn the correct techniques that are essential for the proper care and maintenance of your hair extensions.

Washing Your Hair

Always use Racoon Xtend Shampoo and Conditioner, and ensure that you use Racoon Xtend Deep Conditioning Mask at least once a week, to keep your hair looking fabulous.

• Separate the bonds and ease out any tangles
• Wet the hair – ideally in the shower. Apply Racoon Xtend Shampoo to wet hair
• Squeeze through from roots to the ends
• GENTLY massage the scalp with your fingertips, using a light up and down motion
• Rinse thoroughly, especially around the bonds to avoid scalp irritation
• At least weekly apply the Racoon Xtend Deep Conditioning Mask after shampooing
• While the hair is wet, use a wide tooth comb to remove tangles. Work from the ends up to the roots
• When drying the hair, always pat dry, do not rub or use vigorous motions. Be gentle when drying as excessive tension could cause the hair to become loose
• The Racoon Xtend Everyday Conditioner will further boost the shine of your extensions and is available from Bravo Hairdressing
• Washing your hair will take longer – don’t rush!

Styling Your Hair

• Separate into sections for blow drying
• Racoon Xtend Serum leaves your hair with a silky feel and a high gloss shine. Apply a small amount to your palms and smooth across mid-lengths and ends
• Be gentle - excessive tension may cause loss of extensions. Always support bonds
• Racoon Xtend Thermal Defence Spray protects your own hair as well as extension hair. Apply liberally to damp hair to protect hair prior to using heated appliances
• The use of curling tongs and straightening irons should be kept to a minimum. Don't apply heat to bonds as this will damage them, potentially causing loss of extensions

Sports & Holidays

• It is not recommended that you swim with extension hair
• Some sports/activities require the mandatory wearing of protective headgear. This can put tension on the hair and cause loss of extensions. Never compromise safety
• Just like your skin and natural hair, extensions will need protecting from the sun. Use Racoon Xtend Everyday Conditioner and a hat to prevent your extension hair fading

Removing Your Extensions

Properly cared for, your extensions should last up to three months. There is no charge for removal for clients having hair extensions reapplied. Removal charges do not include a cut.

We carry the full range of styling and care products. We cannot guarantee the quality or lifespan of extensions unless aftercare advice is followed. All services carried out on your hair must be carried out at Bravo.

Pricing

The following prices are a strong guide for full head extensions - any variation from these prices will be explained and justified at your salon consultation.

Length is measured from the top of the ear to the target length. Longer lengths may be available - prices by quotation only. The length of your own hair dictates the maximum extension length.

There's a new grade of hair on offer called 'everyday hair'. This is a new blend of indian hair which offers a more affordable option on longer lengths.
